As a new family to Assumption Regional School, you may have some questions about our school, so we have listed some information here that might be helpful to you. This information does not replace the Student Handbook that you will receive at the beginning of the school year.
Where do I order my child's uniform?
All uniforms need to be purchased through Flynn & O'Hara
(www.flynnohara.com). The company usually visits the school in late April or early May for uniform measurements for the following school year. Check your monthly school calendar for the exact dates. The PTA also manages a
FREE uniform exchange located in the Storage Room off of the gymnasium. All parents are encouraged to participate in the recycling of "in good condition" uniforms. Please refer to the student handbook for more specific information regarding the uniform requirements for each specific grade. Pre-K wears a gym uniform everyday.
What is a prayer partner?
Students in grade Pre-K through 2nd are paired with an older student to sit with during school masses. Pre-K is paired with 5th grade, Kindergarten with 6th grade, and so on. The students also participate in other activities during the school year with their prayer partners. The students attend Mass during the school year at least once a month, with a different grade participating and serving during that Mass, and parents and guardians are welcome to celebrate Mass with the school. Masses are usually at 11:00 AM on the first Friday of every month.
How can I become involved in my child's class?
There are many ways to be involved at Assumption. The PTA is always looking for a fresh face and new ideas. There will be sign-ups for room parents for grades Kindergarten through 8th at the Back to School night in September. Parents also volunteer for the hot lunch program and various other activities and events throughout the school year. Please click on the PTA section of this web site for more details and descriptions, as well as contact information, of the various events and activities. These activities are all in addition to your volunteer commitment.
Catholic School's Week (usually takes place during the last week of January), will give you the opportunity to join your child for lunch in school and an open house in the classroom and school.
Pre-K posts sign-ups for the various holiday parties for parent participation.
What is a Casual Dress Day?
Throughout the course of the year there will be casual dress days for the students that are used as rewards or small fundraisers. Students are also allowed to wear casual dress for their birthdays. Please refer to your student handbook for the specific guidelines for casual dress days.
Additional Information:
The Pre-K and Kindergarten programs will have an orientation evening approximately a week before school starts to go over the specific class expectations. Parents and children are welcome.
There is a before school and after school program (ASP) offered at the school for a nominal fee. You do not need to commit to a set schedule to use the after school program. Information on the program will come home with your child during the first week of school.
